Shana Harris Comments on Former Ravens DT Terrence Cody Indictment

LATEST UPDATE: The ex-NFL player who starved his dog to death has been released from a Baltimore jail 3 months early … TMZ Sports has learned.

Terrence Cody — who last played for the Baltimore Ravens — was sentenced to 9 months behind bars after pleading guilty to multiple animal cruelty charges back in March.
Prosecutors said the 28-year-old didn’t feed his Canary mastiff for up to ten weeks. They also said the dog was kept in a crate that was never cleaned.

According to a rep for the jail, Cody was released on September 21st. He was given 88 days credit for working and good behavior.
The judge also gave him 18 months probation. During that time, he’s not allowed to own any animals.

UPDATE: Terence Cody has been found guilty of misdemeanor charges in connection to the neglect of his pet dog, Taz. He is facing up to three years behind bars at his sentencing in January 2016.
Keep signing and sharing and let’s get Cody banned from the National Football League!

After months of waiting, Terrence Cody’s trial has finally commenced at the Baltimore Circuit Court. In February, the NFL player was indicted on 15 counts; the same day the accusations were brought, his team, The Baltimore Ravens, cut him loose.
Terrence Cody paid $8, 000 to purchase Taz, a beautiful Canary Mastiff dog from Spain. With all the financial resources at his disposal, one might thing the dog was bound to live a happy and peaceful life in the US. It was quite the opposite.

The pet was placed in a dirty cage and left there without food and water for over a month, between December 2014 and January 2015. During all this period, Cody never bothered to see how his pet was doing. When Cody finally came through and went to check on Taz, he was appalled to discover his pet was clinging to his life by a thread.

The helpless animal was rushed to the hospital by Cody himself, but it was too late for him to be saved. To spare him further suffering, vets had to humanely put him down.

Witnesses for prosecution include, among others, Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore, a forensic veterinarian, who stated that the pet dog passed away after being starved for approximately four weeks.

‘It was obvious the dog had been neglected for a long period of time’ Dr. Smith-Blackmore concluded.

According to her testimony, Taz should have weighed between 99 and 141 pounds; instead, he had a staggering weight of just 50 pounds when he was brought in.

The vet that examined Taz first hand believed the dog had already passed away upon his arrival at the hospital.

Cody’s girlfriend, Kourtney Kelley, 28, is also indicted in this case. However, her lawyer conveniently placed the blame on Terence Cody, claiming he was the only one responsible for the dog’s well being (or rather lack of it).

According to Kelley’s representatives, she was not the dog’s caretaker, as she was pregnant in 8-month and was still working at her job at the time the neglect occurred.

Given the nature of his actions, Terrence Cody needs to be banned from the NFL. We have seen this before in Michael Vick’s case – who is now back in the big league, playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Minnesota deputy K9 officer caught on tape abusing his dog!![VIDEO]

Brett Arthur Berry, K9 officer, had certainly crossed that line. Such acts of cruelty and abuse are completely inhumane and are least expected from a police officer.

Berry and his K9 partner, Boone, were attending a K9 certification event in Carlton County. The event was held at Black Bear Casino. Once outside, Berry started beating up Boone. He picked him up by the neck and threw him to the ground.

The poor animal ran for its life, but unfortunately, it was caught between two doors. The abusive policeman had caught up with him by then and started to punch Boone six times in a row without mercy.

Little did the heartless cop know that the security cameras were on and had filmed the whole incident. When the casino’s security team members reviewed the tape a few hours later, they were shocked to witness such an act. They called the authorities to report that abusive deputy at once.

Berry  has recieved an administrative leave.

And if the court declared him guilty, then he’s about to face up to 90 days in jail and pay a $1,000 fine for each of the two animal abuse charges. Which is a small punishment compared to the humiliation, abuse and cruelty that he inflicted upon the poor animal.

Let us hope that this incident would set an example for people, that nobody is above the law, not even police k9 officers.

Ohio passes law that makes any form of animal abuse a felony charge.

These are the lowest level felonies recognized by Ohio law. Nonetheless, this is a big step up in the protection of animals…

The bill was a textbook example of bipartisan support. Republican David Hall and Democrat Bill Patmon came together to get it through the state legislature. It passed through the Senate unanimously and got through the House with a vote of 92 to 1.

Now, anyone in Ohio who causes knowing harm to a companion animal will receive a jail sentence of six months to a year and a fine of $2,500.

According to Goddard’s law, the bill designates withholding food, water, or shelter from a pet as harm as well as physical abuse.

The bill also requires Ohio veterinarians to use their expertise to craft a method to determine whether a pet owner. Is using their animal to obtain opioids in order to satisfy their prescription drug addictions.

The bill will also dish out prison sentences to anyone who assaults a law enforcement animal in such a way that results in the animal’s death.

Back in 2014, South Dakota became the fiftieth state to enact a felony punishment for animal cruelty. And in May 2016, the federal animal cruelty bill was brought to the House floor.

The FBI also has a federal database that works in conjunction with local law enforcement to keep track of any criminal engaging in animal abuse crimes.

Marco the Pit Bull had the odds stacked against him. Marco was a homeless Pit Bull rescued from the brink of death. He had a skin infection, sores all over his body, and hardly any hair at all.

His rescuers at GO Rescue Pet Adoption Center knew the chances of Marco getting a forever home were slim.

To make matters worse, he was blind – the pup suffered from terrible cataracts, and surgery would be expensive.

Despite his terrible misfortune, Marco was about to find a stroke of luck: a woman named Georgia Obenaus.

Obenaus took one look at Marco, and immediately fell in love. The struggling, lonely little Pit Bull melted her heart, and she knew she had to do whatever it took to find him a family.

Before Marco could adjust to a family home, he needed his eyesight back, so Obenaus started an online fundraiser for his surgery.

After his surgery, Marco bounded out of the waiting room. He recognized the scent of the woman who had taken him in, but for the first time, he could see her too.

Marco had his eyes back, but he still needed a home.

Today, Marco has a new lease on life and a loving family. All because of everyday heroes like Obenaus and the MacGinley family.

The Amazing Story of Roo: The dog who thinks she’s a kangaroo

You could be forgiven for doing a double-take if you spotted this wonderdog hopping out for a walk.

The five-month-old has got just two legs – but takes a kangaroo-like approach to getting around.

Her bouncing and jumping has earned her the name Roo, as well as plenty of attention from confused passers-by who mistake her for a marsupial.

The plucky puppy, who was rescued from Romania, is thought to have been born with one front leg missing before suffering the loss of the other soon afterwards.

'She's a star': Nikki, 50, with Roo, who is believed to be a cross between a collie and a whippet

Just hopping out! Five-month-old Roo, who came to the UK in November, bounds around on two legs

Mrs Dick, from Morpeth, Northumberland, said: ‘We’ve fallen in love with her, how could you not? She is such a little star.

‘Roo doesn’t know any different to hopping on her two back legs but she still laps up all the fuss from people who always stop and do a double take when they see her because they think she is a kangaroo.

‘She’s perfectly happy and pain-free and vets are very happy with her progress.’

The couple, who have six other rescue dogs, treat Roo to weekly hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions to ease any strain on her back.

Heroes Among Us – Hero the Dog!

Shannon Lorio lives in a small town called Pavo, Georgia, where she was born and raised. The rural area has curvy, winding roads that run alongside the woods, and that’s when something horrible happened.

Fishtailing through a turn, Shannon lost control of her car and was thrown from the front seat through the back window onto the trunk. It would have ended up so poorly. That us, until the dog came out of nowhere.

Shannon was disoriented and in a lot of pain, but the worst part was that nobody driving by would see her wrecked car, and she couldn’t move.

She passed out, and when she came to, she was aware of this huge presence.

A dog—that Shannon says she didn’t know “from Adam’s house cat”—pulled her free of the car and dragged her to the road. That’s when the story gets interesting.

Strangers passing by saw the predicament Shannon was in and stopped to help. She was able to tell them what happened and asked them to call her husband, and then passed out. When she came to, she was in the hospital and was told that the injuries to her head resulted in a brain bleed. Had the dog not come along when he did, she probably would have died.

No one knew where the dog came from, if he had been trained, or just wanted to help a fellow creature in trouble. The rest of his story is just as exciting as his encounter with Shannon.

Watch the video below to see how it all pans out for the hero dog, and if you agree he just might have been an angel sent from above, share it on Facebook with your friends!

Amazingly Smart Pit Bull performs Fancy Tricks

Veronica-Lynn Pit Bull the amazingly smart pit bull performs her fancy tricks (that would be her intermediate level tricks). Tricks include fetching a tissue, saying Grace, performing a cupboard retrieve (i.e. helping in the kitchen), taking a time out in her crate and putting her toys away in her toybox.
Veronica has been trained with completely force free positive training – verbal markers, the clicker, bridge and target and plenty of treats. She typically carries her tail on the downside. It is generally always down when she is focusing and concentrating. When her tail is up and wagging…it can be a good thing, or it can be a not so good thing – it depends as much on the context in which the behavior occurs as it does on the actual behavior : )
